| The unique ‘double sided’ calendar has been produced to appeal to all rugby fans, with artistic black and white shots of the boys in unusual surroundings and classic colour action shots of players in memorable fixtures, including their victory over England at the Millennium Stadium in March this year.
The Welsh Rugby Union were keen to produce the calendar in such an important year of world rugby. Professional photographers Huw Evans and Julian Castaldi were approached to gather spectacular images of the Wales players that represent the game, the players and the Welsh supporters.
The luxurious calendar has a very unique ‘double sided’ concept, which was created so it would appeal to any and all rugby fans. Whether a sultry Michael Phillips as Mr September is your cup of tea or a skilled Hook striking another perfect kick brings back favourable memories, you can decide with a simple tilt and turn.
WRU Chief Executive Roger Lewis, “We are very pleased with the end product, and we are confident that our supporters will be impressed with the extremely unique images of some of our rugby stars.
“We have collected a lot of feedback about what people want from a Welsh Rugby Union calendar and I think this caters for all tastes. There are some really memorable shots of the boys in action, and the flip side captures them in situations that portray a side to the players that many people don’t often get to see, which again has its own appeal.”
Huw Evans, Director Huw Evans picture agency, “I was delighted to be involved in this project and I think the Welsh public will be very pleased with the result.
“Our agency covers all aspects of photography and we’ve had the fortune of being the Welsh Rugby Union’s official photographers for the past 10 years and I’ve captured some pretty special moments.
“A picture is so powerful in evoking passionate memories of our national team and the action shots from this year represent the passion and drive that playing for your country stirs up in the players.”
