Scarlets captain Simon Easterby has committed himself to another three years with the Llanelli Scarlets.
The flanker’s new deal will see him extend his stay with the Scarlets until July, 2010. Since his arrival from Leeds in 1999, the British and Irish Lion back rower has made a total of 148 appearances for both Llanelli and the Scarlets, scoring 16 tries.

A thrilled Stuart Gallacher said: “We are absolutely delighted that our inspirational club captain and leader has committed himself for another three years. Simon is a world class player and has become a very important component in the team.”

Easterby, capped 57 times by Ireland, is the current club captain of the Scarlets and is a firm favourite with the Stradey fans.

“I’m delighted to re-sign with the Scarlets especially as we are heading towards some exciting times. I’m looking forward to being with a successful Scarlets side which will shortly be playing in a new stadium with some fantastic facilities. The club and region have become a major part of my life over the past eight years.”
