Fiji have announced a 30-man squad for the forthcoming Rugby World Cup.
Wales will face Fiji in their final Pool Stage match on September 29th in a game that could be crucial to their passage to the knock-out phase.

Included in the squad is Ifereimi Rawaqa, the man who scored a 60-metre breakaway try at the Millennium Stadium the last time Wales faced the Fijians in November 2005.

Wales were 11-10 victors in that match thanks to a late drop-goal by Nicky Robinson.

The free-running Fijians have proved they can transport their legendary Sevens skills to the 15-man game and Coach Ilivasi Tabua has included talismanic Norman Ligairi in his travelling party.

The squad is laced with Guinness Premiership stars. Gloucester flanker Akapusi Qera, Saracens pair Nicky Little and Mosese Rauluni and Tigers powerful wing Seru Rabeni – a player Ospreys fans will remember from the 41-35 EDF Energy Cup final loss in April.

Fiji will go into camp on Monday July 16th to begin final Rugby World Cup preparations, and the 30-man squad is conditional on all players passing a full medical test next week.

The forwards will now come under the guidance of Australian Greg Mumm, who said Fiji had the ability to upset Wales and Australia.

"Our forwards will be more competitive," Mumm said. "We can defeat Wales as we have got the size up front and our forwards have got a good height advantage.

"The only thing we need to work on is to improve on the set pieces. If Fiji can dominate possession, I'm confident that we can upset Wales and we can also match the Wallabies."

Wales and Fiji first faced each other in a Test match 22 years ago at the Arms Park. Wales won 40-3 on that occasion, and are undefeated against the Fijians with a 6-0 international record.
