"It was a tough day yesterday and it will probably be a tough day tomorrow, but all the training is leading us to where we want to be and I'm sure we'll be glad to have that little bit extra in the tank when it comes to matchday."

Peel is in competition for a Test spot with Blues scrum half Gareth Cooper and versatile Ospreys speedster Shane Williams but says no one has the nod at this stage. "It's always competitive between the players, especially those who are fighting for the same spots in the side.

"We are also a very close unit, but nobody really knows who is favourite to get into the starting line-up, we are just all hoping we get a chance."

The Scarlets No.9 is already getting excited about the prospect of playing in the Rugby World Cup but he also had some words of encouragement for his team mates continuing to represent Wales in regional rugby back home.

"The tournament is getting a bit nearer each day and it's starting to get exciting for everyone," he added. "It gives a real lift to those of us out here to know that back home the boys are doing us proud.

"I watched the highlights of the Scarlets win over Munster and from what I can gather they are going pretty well at the moment.

"The Warriors too are on top and it's great for Welsh rugby to see both sides winning.

"I hope we can return the favour in Australia. It really does seem like the management have got everything covered and left no stone unturned in terms of preparation."
