Llanelli Scarlets have confirmed the early release of fullback Barry Davies.
Reports on www.scarlets.co.uk suggestthe once-capped Wales No.15 is planning to play in France next season and Davies is now free to complete negotiations with the unnamed side. The website reports: "The 26-year-old is hoping to confirm a move to a French club in the next few days."

Scarlets Chief Executive Stuart Gallacher said: “We’ve agreed by mutual agreement of the early termination of Barry Davies’s contract. I would like to place on record our thanks to Barry for his service to the team and the region over the last seven years and wish him luck for his future career.”

Since making his Llanelli RFC debut in 2000, Davies has made 149 appearances in total for Llanelli and subsequently the Scarlets, scoring a total of 56 tries. His one and only Welsh cap came last year against Ireland.

“The support I have had over the past seven years has been tremendous but now is the right time in my career to seek a new and fresh challenge," Davies told www.scarlets.co.uk. "I want to wish all the boys the best of luck for next season, I won’t be a stranger as I’ve already promised to come back around Christmas time and watch the boys.”

Davies has scored a total of 220 points for the Scarlets and is the leading try-scorer (with 37) in the region’s short history.
